The Madagascar 500 Francs Banknote comes from the 1994-1998 issues that made use of the 8-digit serial number and 1-letter prefix. The prefix on each domination starts at A, and advances alphabetically overtime. This banknote measures 130 x 75 mm, has green, brown and red colors and with a Paper Money Guaranty grade of 68. The front side bears the travelers palm tree (Ravenala madagascariensis), village huts, along with a Malagasy girl with braided hair. Meanwhile, the back side shows men herding zebu cattle, a mountainside village with trees and small buildings, and women harvesting rice in a paddy. For security, this banknote features a solid security thread with printed BANKY FOIBENI MADAGASIKARA and a watermark bearing a Zebu cattle head.
