This 20 Portuguese escudo note was issued in 1978 and demonetized in 1986. Its obverse side features Carlos Viegas Gago Coutinho, one of the first aviators to cross the South Atlantic Ocean by air. Its reverse side portrays a floatplane landing in front of Belem Tower, the UNESCO World Heritage Site that is often portrayed as the symbol for Europes Age of Discovery. Security features of the note include a solid security thread and a watermark of Admiral Gago Coutinho. This green note measures 135 mm long and 66 mm wide, is in uncirculated condition, and TAP Authenticated by Banknote World experts.
