The Bahamas half dollar is part of the banknote series issued in 2001 with added security features and colors and new portraits as well as new background patterns. This paper bill has been given a grade of 66 by the Paper Money Guaranty. On the banknotes obverse side is Queen Elizabeth II wearing a tiara and the royal family order of King George VI. The banknote also shows straw baskets and a map. Furthermore, a sand dollar is shown on both obverse and reverse sides as the banknotes registration device. On its reverse are bananas, the national emblem, and artisan straw weaver Sister Sarah Johnson in the Nassau market with fish and fruit. This 156 x 67 mm paper bill has a windowed security thread with a demetallized BAHAMAS. It also has a watermark consisting of an image of a Spanish galleon.
