The reverse of the note features the main gate of Fortaleza Real - Cidade Velha or the Royal Fortress - Old City which is located in Ribeira Grande in Santiago. The note has a registration device in the form of a cannon. The banknote bears a solid security thread with a demetalized BCV 5000. It also has a watermark that consists of a woman and an electrotype 5000. The banknote is 148 x 74 mm in size and is composed of paper.
