Estonia is a country in Northern Europe, located on the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea. It shares borders with Latvia to the south and Russia to the east, and it has a coastline along the Baltic Sea to the west and north. Tallinn is the capital and largest city of Estonia. The country has a rich history and cultural heritage, having been inhabited since ancient times and influenced by various civilizations over the centuries.

Upon gaining independence in 1991, Estonia introduced its national currency which is the Estonian kroon in 1992 to replace the Soviet ruble. The kroon was divided into 100 senti. The coins in circulation included denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 senti, as well as 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 krooni.

The observe (front) of Estonian kroon coins usually displayed the national coat of arms or the portrait of an influential figure, while the reverse (back) often featured depictions of native flora, fauna, or landmarks representing Estonia's cultural heritage.

Estonia joined the Eurozone and adopted the euro as its official currency on January 1, 2011. Following the adoption of the euro, Estonia phased out the kroon, and the euro became the sole legal tender in the country. Euro coins in Estonia are issued in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 cents, as well as 1 and 2 euros.
