The Kingdom of Bosnia was a medieval kingdom that lasted from 1377 to 1463. The Kingdom of Bosnia was established by King Tvrtko I out of the Banate of Bosnia. He ruled both Serbia and Bosnia until his death. Feudal fragmentation led to Bosnian nobility having significant power over political affairs such as military issues. The annexation of eastern Bosnia to the Ottoman Empire, as well as the murder of King Stephen Tomasevic, ended the Kingdom of Bosnia.

Mining was a major industry in Bosnia with silver as the main source of wealth for the royalty. Many important mining towns flourished during this period, including Foljnica, Kresevo, Srebenica, Olovo, and Dusna. Caravan trading was also a major economic activity.

Because silver was abundant in Bosnia, silver coins were the most common type of coins circulating in the kingdom. The coins featured the ruling king and the royal arms.
