Netherlands / 3 Products

The Netherlands has a long history of coinage dating back to ancient times. Various regions within what is now the Netherlands issued their own coins, influenced by rulers and trading partners. Notably, during the Dutch Golden Age in the 17th century, the Netherlands emerged as a major economic power, and its coinage played a significant role in international trade.

The Netherlands uses the euro (EUR) as its official currency. The coins in circulation reflect the standard denominations of the euro, which are used across the Eurozone. These denominations include 1 cent, 2 cents, 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, 1 euro and 2 euros.

The 1, 2, and 5 cent coins are crafted from copper-plated steel, while the 10, 20, and 50 cent coins are composed of Nordic gold. As for the 1 and 2 euro coins, they are bimetallic, featuring a nickel brass outer ring and a nickel-plated nickel brass inner core.

Each coin features a common European side displaying a map of Europe alongside its denomination. On the obverse side is the portrait of King Willem-Alexander, introduced in 2004, with his title displayed vertically either across the center or right side of the coin.
