The Bahamas half dollar is part of the 2001 banknote series which comes with added security attributes, new added colors, and has new portraits as well as background patterns. This particular paper bill has been given a grade of 68 by the Paper Money Guaranty. Featured on the banknotes obverse side is Queen Elizabeth II wearing a tiara and the royal family order of King George VI. There are also straw baskets and a map shown on the notes obverse. The banknote also displays a sand dollar as its registration device. The reverse of the banknote displays bananas, the national emblem, and artisan weaver Sister Sarah Johnson in the Nassau market with fish and fruit. The paper banknote which measures 156 x 67 mm has a windowed security thread with a demetallized BAHAMAS. Furthermore, it has a watermark which consists of a Spanish galleon.
