The Bahamas half dollar is part of the family of notes issued in 2001 by the Central Bank of the Bahamas which has added security features, added colors, and new portraits and background patterns. This particular replacement banknote has been given a replacement star and a grade of 67 by the Paper Money Guaranty. On the front side is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a tiara and the royal family order of King George VI, straw baskets, and a map. It also has a sand dollar as its registration device. The reverse of the banknote showcases bananas, the Coat of Arms of the Bahamas, artisan straw weaver Sister Sarah in the Nassau market with fish and fruit. This 156 x 67 mm paper bill has a windowed security thread with a demetallized BAHAMAS and a watermark which consists of a Spanish galleon.
