The Bahamas half dollar is part of the family of notes issued in 2001 with added security features and colors, and has new portraits as well as background patterns. This particular replacement banknote is in uncirculated condition. The banknotes obverse side features Queen Elizabeth II wearing a tiara and the royal family order of King George VI. Straw baskets and a map are also visible on the notes obverse. The banknotes registration device shows a sand dollar. On the reverse of the banknote are bananas, the national emblem, and artisan weaver Sister Sarah Johnson in the Nassau market with fish and fruit. The banknote which is 156 x 67 mm in size has a windowed security thread with a demetallized BAHAMAS. It also has a watermark which consists of a Spanish galleon.
