The Bahamas 5 Dollars is part of the family of notes issued in 2007 with an altered Bahamas map design on its center obverse. This particular banknote has been given a grade of 66 by the Paper Money Guaranty. The obverse of the note bears a portrait of the former cabinet minister and parliament member Cecil Wallace-Whitfield who founded the Free National Movement. A gold foil galleon, a map of the islands, and a statue of Columbus are also shown on the banknotes obverse. The reverse features Junkanoo dancers and the national emblem. Furthermore, it bears a sand dollar as its registration device. It also has a solid security thread and a 3-mm windowed security thread which has a demetallized BAHAMAS. The 156 x 67 mm paper bill has a watermark which consists of a portrait of Cecil Wallace-Whitfield, an electrotype 5 in a sand dollar design, and Cornerstones.
