The Bahamian dollar (BSD) was established in 1966 and is pegged at par with the US dollar. It is divided into 100 cents and contains six banknotes and seven coins. The Bahamian dollar contains two series with the latest one being introduced in 2016. Up until 1992, the Bahamian dollar featured Queen Elizabeth II. She is depicted in a photograph by terry O’Neill wearing the Burmese Ruby tiara that she authorized to be created in 1973 with rubies given to her by the Burmese people of what is now Myanmar.

The reverse of each banknote depicts life in the Bahamas featuring locations such as Hope Town, Nassau Market, The Central Bank of Bahamas and cultural traditions such as the fishing, sailing and the Junkanoo dance.
