China is located in East Asia. They are known the world around as a global superpower and a economic powerhouse. The country is full of rich history and culture and they also invented a lot of things that we use today such as paper, gun powder, tea, compass and even paper money. China was not always as prosperous as it is today. Before the communist party came into power, China was very impoverished. The country rapidly became industrialized and turned to manufacturing. It took many people out of poverty and has helped its economy grow more and more over the years. Today it is the manufacturing hub of many international brands and the country is also a tech hub too with many well known Chinese tech firms like Alibaba, Huawei, and Xiaomi.
Chinas official currency is the Renminbi (Yuan). Over the years the banknote design has changed since the People’s Bank of China (PBC) came to power. The current series of banknotes all feature former leader Mao Zedong. The current series of Chinese banknotes ranges from 1-100 Yuan Banknotes. The 100 Yuan is colored in red and features Mao Zedong on the front. The back features an image of the Great Hall of the People which is used for state affairs and activities.
