The First series of Oman’s banknotes was created in 1970 by Bradbury & Wilkinson and they feature Oman’s culture in the design. Many banknotes in this series featured Oman’s crest or a portrait of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said since 1977.mIn 2010 Oman’s banknotes became much more colorful and vibrant. To celebrate the 45th Anniversary of country’s founding, Oman printed a commemorative 1 Rial in 2015 and again in 2020 a 5th Anniversary banknote was created to honor Qaboos.
