The fourth series of Saudi Arabian banknotes were put in circulation in 1984. This issue added a five hundred Saudi Riyal banknote to the existing 100, 50, 10, 5 and 1 Riyal. The fourth series continued the previous design approaches used in the 3rd series. An accurate, realistic portrait of King Fahd is prominently shown on the obverse of all banknotes. Images and colors are more intense and darker than previous issues and one can see a further focus on showing religious sites on the notes. The 50, 100, 200 and 500 show beautiful representations of important Mosques. The one Riyal is also interesting because it includes an image of a Omayyad Dinar.
