Saudi Arabia issued its second series of banknotes in 1968. The second series followed the same general design concepts used in the first issue. The notes continue to include images of technological advancement in Saudi Arabia including the Aramco refinery and Dhahran Airport. But there is an increased use of religious images in this series. A picture of the Makka Holy Mosque is shown on the 10 Riyal and an interior view of the Holy Mosque of the Prophet (at Madina) is shown on the fifty riyal. The designs are very intricate and detailed making these banknotes very attractive.
