Originating in France in 2015, the Zero Euro banknote is a souvenir note anticipated to gain prominence within the banknote collector markets in 2018. Conceived by Richard Faille who is renowned for crafting popular French currency souvenirs, the production of Zero Euro banknotes is authorized by the European Central Bank (ECB) and undergo printing at a private fiduciary facility, exhibiting numerous similarities to real Euros, with the distinctive feature of being labeled as “0” for which the name is derived.
Their obverse has a common design showing a white zero followed by the Euro sign, signifying the banknote’s absence of financial value. It also showcases Europe’s iconic landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate, Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, Sagrada Familia, Manneken Pis, and the Mona Lisa arranged from left to right.
