The 5 Belizean dollar banknotes obverse has a see-through feature that forms the complete design of HMS Merlin when held up to the light. The obverse side also features Belizes coat of arms, a queen triggerfish, a queen angelfish, a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing Grand Duchess Vladimirs tiara and Queen Victorias golden jubilee necklace, and the medallion found in Thomas Potts tomb. The reverse side features vignettes of life in St. Georges Caye, the first official settlement of Belize, before 1931. The security features of the note are a windowed security thread with a demetalized BELIZE print, a watermark of a carved head of the sleeping giant and an electrotype watermark FIVE. The note measures 140 mm by 70 mm.
