This uncirculated 50 Bermudian dollar banknote is dated 1 January 2009 and signed by Bermuda Monetary Authority Chairman Alan C. Cossar and Director D.E. Simons. The note is part of the 2009 series commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Bermuda Monetary Authority and the 400th anniversary since the settlement of British navigator Sir George Somers in Bermuda. Both sides of the note are vertically oriented. Its obverse side shows the red-billed tropicbird (Phaeton aethereus), the bust of Queen Elizabeth II, and hibiscus flowers. Its reverse side shows the St. Peter’s Church in St. Georgetown and butterflies. Security features include a tropicbird registration device, an Optiks windowed security thread, and a watermark that shows a hibiscus flower, an electrotype sailboat, and Cornerstones. Its dimensions are 140 mm x 68 mm. The features on the note have been verified and TAP Authenticated by Banknote World experts.
