The 30-year partnership between Electronic Arts and Guinness World Records’ best-selling sports video game franchise in the world FIFA will come to an end. FIFA 23 will be its final game. After the FIFA Women’s World Cup competition which will be held in Australia and New Zealand in July 2023, the video game will be renamed EA Sports FC. The association football video game series kicked off in 1993 with the FIFA International Soccer on the Sega Mega Drive. The first to get an official license from the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). They are the governing body of the association football in the world. The video game series became so popular and has been available in 51 countries. As of 2021, FIFA has sold more than 325 million copies.

FIFA Banknotes 

Association football isn’t only shown on PlayStation, PC, Sega Saturn, and 32X. Some banknotes and coins also portray design elements relevant to FIFA. For example the 100 Ruble polymer banknote issued by the Bank of Russia in 2018 to commemorate the World Cup held in Russia. Its obverse features Russian goalkeeper Lev Yashin and a boy with a soccer ball under his arm. The reverse reflects a soccer globe. In addition it shows the Russian Federation map, a stylized flag of Russia with silhouettes of athletic fans. In addition to the cities of Russia that host the playoff games.

On the other hand, this Zero Euro souvenir banknote that’s part of the World Cup Series was released to acknowledge the 32 nations that participated in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Along with Sydney Opera House, the reverse of the note highlights an Australian soccer athlete

This 1,000 Peso Uruguayo silver coin from Uruguay from 2000 celebrates the Centennial Anniversary of the Federation Internationale de Football Association. Its front design depicts a stylized football ball and also a goal net. The reverse features a radiant sun with a face in addition to 100 with the zeros replaced with two football balls.
