Last year at the beginning of October the National Bank of Kazakhstan released a new and updated version of its 20000 Tenge banknote which is currently its largest denomination. The design is very similar to the previous generation of 20000 Tenge and it is actually take on the commemorative 20000 from 2021 which celebrated 30 years of independence from the former Soviet Union. One thing about the 2021 version is that it features former leader Nursultan Nazarbayev on the reverse side. However, in 2022 he was removed from power so this banknote release reflects his removal from power since they took him off the back as well.
