Qatar 2022 has been the center of attention for many years leading up until now. It was chosen to host the 2022 World Cup in a controversial decision that resulted in numerous allegations. This was the first time that Qatar was chosen to host the event. Qatar won its bid on December 2, 2010, defeating bids from South Korea, Japan, Australia and the United States. The final match will be played at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor City on December 18. There will be a total of 8 stadiums where the matches will be held across. They are Al Bayt Stadium, Lusail Stadium, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Education City Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Stadium 974. Al Bayt stadium will host the first match of the World Cup 22’. The stadium has a capacity of 60,000 seats which makes it one of the largest stadiums in Qatar. Lusali Stadium which has the largest capacity at 80,000 people will hold the final match.

Qatar 22 Riyals Commemorative Banknote

One last minute surprise that was announced to the general public on November 9, 2022 by the Qatar Central Bank was a Qatar 22 Riyal banknote that commemorates the 2022 world cup. This is a commemorative banknote, and it is being sold for more than its initial face value. It is made out of polymer and it comes in a gold, brown, green and white color scheme. The obverse side features Al Bayt Stadium, a Dhow sailing ship and Al Zubara Fort. In the center you can find the Qatar 2022 logo and a world map behind it. In addition there is cursive text reading: “Qatar Central Bank Twenty Two Riyals”. AlsoiIn the clear window you can find the world cup trophy as a security device. This makes it the first ever official world cup banknote withe FIFA World Cup Logo on it. On the reverse you can see an image of the Lusali Stadium, the Doha skyline as well as older buildings. In the center you can find the Qatari coat of arms and the Qatar 2022 same as in the front.

Another alternative to the official 22 Riyals is the The 10 Qatari Riyal note from 2022. It features two venues in the Aspire Zone: the Aspire Tower and the Lusail Stadium. Its obverse side features traditional geometric patterns, the Qatar flag, Qatari flora, and the entrance gate inside the Qatar State Mosque. Its reverse side features the Lusail Stadium, the Torch Tower, and the Sidra Medicine and Education City.
