This 50 Brazilian cruzeiros note is the smallest denomination in the third edition of cruzeiros banknotes issued in 1990. It was eventually withdrawn by the Banco Central do Brasil (Central Bank of Brazil) in September 1992. Its obverse side included a black stamp of 50 CRUZEIROS, a picture of the poet Carlos Drummond de Andrade, a handwritten excerpt from Andrades manuscript of Prece de um Mineiro no Rio (Prayer of a Mineiro in Rio), and a village in Itabira. The reverse side depicts a scene of Andrade writing on a desk, with the poem Cancao Amiga (Friendly Song) at the side. The note has a solid security mark and a watermark of the Head of Republica. Its dimensions are 140 mm x 65 mm.
