The 1,000 Bulgarian leva banknote is part of the first family of banknotes issued by the Bulgarian National Bank after the fall of the communist regime. The tan and olive note measures 149 mm long and 74 mm wide. The note features the revolutionary and national hero Vasil Levski and his legacy. The obverse side shows Levskis face and Georgi Danchovs Liberated Bulgaria. The reverse side features the Vasil Levski monument in Sofia and his writings. The note has a solid security thread and a watermark of Vasil Levski.
