Burundi 5,000 Francs Banknote, 2015, P-53, PMG 66

The Burundi 5,000 Francs is part of the family of banknotes issued by the Bank of the Republic of Burundi in 2015. This particular paper bill is graded 66 by the Paper Money Guaranty. Its obverse depicts Burundian dancers carrying drums on their heads, a cape buffalo, and a shield. The national emblem and a basket in green-to-gold Optically Variable ink with an embossed BRB are also shown on the front. The reverse of the banknote displays a map outline of the country with an image of a man walking on the road through a forest-covered mountain. The logo of the Bank of the Republic of Burundi is also visible. The paper banknote bears a fish as its registration device and a windowed security thread with a demetalized head of a heifer, stars, and BRB. It also has a watermark that shows a portrait of Melchior Ndadaye and an electrotype BRB when held up to a light source. The Burundi 5,000 Francs is 138 x 69 mm in size.
