Its obverse features the Parliament House situated in Bujumbura and the national emblem. A cattle head holographic patch is also visible on the lower left of the obverse. The banknotes reverse depicts cranes, ships, and a building on a dock. The 145 x 73 mm paper bill bears a windowed security thread with a demetalized BRB and a watermark that reflects a cattle. Furthermore, the Burundi 5,000 Francs carries the signatures of Melchor Wagara and Gaspard Sindayigaya.
