The Burundi 5,000 Francs is part of the family of banknotes issued in 2015 highlighting a native animal on its obverse and economic activity within the countrys map outline on its reverse. This particular banknote comes in uncirculated condition and is TAP authenticated. Its obverse side features a cape buffalo and dancers with drums on their heads. The national emblem, a shield, and a flag are also visible. The reverse of the banknote depicts a man walking on a road through a forested mountain, a fish, and the logo of the Banque de la Republique du Burundi. Security features of the 138 x 69 mm paper banknote include a green-to-gold basket in Optically Variable Ink with an embossed BRB. It also bears a pearlescent stripe on the front with a vertical 5000 and a pearlescent overprint on the reverse with a flag and 5000 / BRB. Furthermore, it has a windowed security thread with a demetallized head of a heifer, stars, and BRB. It also has a watermark that shows President Melchior Ndadaye and an electrotype BRB.
