The obverse features a bas relief of natives, trees, and a cauldron. On its reverse is the Banque de la Republique du Burundi building in Bujumbura, a palm tree, and the national emblem. The 132 x 67 mm paper banknote bears a windowed security thread with a demetallized BRB. Furthermore, it has a watermark that depicts cattle.
