The Cape Verde 1,000 Escudos is among the banknotes issued in 1977 by the Bank of Cape Verde as part of its first year of service. The obverse of the banknote features Amilcar Cabral who led the Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde Islands nationalist movement. It also depicts an electric lamp in the form of a plant, a pano cloth pattern, and the emblem of Cape Verde. The reverse illustrates men in a corn field hauling rocks on top of a wall with wooden poles and ropes. Furthermore, a banana stalk is displayed on the right of the banknotes reverse. The paper bill is 152 x 76 mm in size and carries a solid security thread. It also has a watermark that reflects Amilcar Cabral when held up to a light source. This specific Cape Verde 1,000 Escudos comes in exceptional paper quality and has been given a grade of 65 by the Paper Money Guaranty.
