The Cape Verde 1,000 Escudos specimen banknote was issued by the Bank of Cape Verde in 1989. The note is predominantly brown a Portuguese text. Its obverse features Amilcar Cabral. Its reverse is in a vertical orientation and shows pierid butterflies, a desert locust, and the coat of arms of Cape Verde. Both sides have a diagonal red ESPECIMEN overprint. It has a registration device in the form of an ear of corn. The note also contains a solid security thread with printed BCV and a watermark that reveals a Amilcar Cabral. It is 143 x 67 mm in size and is signed by Alexandre da Luz and Verona Rodrigues Pires. This particular specimen banknote is in uncirculated condition.
