The Cape Verde 1,000 Escudos Banknote was issued by the Bank of Cape Verde in 2002. This specimen banknote is predominantly brown and bears a diagonal red ESPECIMEN overprint on both sides. Its obverse side shows the Cape Verde swamp warbler bird (Acrocephalus brevipennis keulemans). Its reverse side is vertically oriented and shows Pierid butterflies and a desert locust (Schistocerca gregaria). Security features include a solid security thread with printed BCV, an all-zero serial number, and a watermark of Amilcar Cabral. It is 143 mm x 67 mm and is signed by Garcia Correia and Joao de Andrade Lopes. This specimen banknote is in uncirculated condition and has been TAP authenticated.
