This uncirculated 1,000 Cape Verdean escudo banknote is a specimen banknote issued by the Bank of Cape Verde that is dated 1 July 2002 and signed by Bank Governor Olavo Avelino Garcia Correia and Administrator Joao de Andrade Lopes. It is a brown banknote that measures 143 mm x 67 mm. Both sides of the banknote contain a diagonal red ESPECIMEN overprint. Its obverse side shows the Cape Verde swamp warbler bird (Acrocephalus brevipennis keulemans). Its reverse side is vertically oriented and shows Pierid butterflies and a desert locust (Schistocerca gregaria). Security features include a solid security thread with printed BCV, an all-zero serial number, and a watermark of Amilcar Cabral.
