The Cape Verde 1,000 Escudos specimen banknote was issued by the Bank of Cape Verde in 2014. It has a color combination of blue, purple, green, yellow, and pink. Both sides of the banknote include a diagonal red SPECIMEN overprint. Its obverse side honors the composer and musician Code de Dona (Gregorio Vaz) with a holographic patch with musical notes and a bird in flight, an embossed bird, and his portrait. Its reverse side depicts a musician playing a ferrinho with the sun and birds in flight. Security features include a 4-mm windowed security thread with a demetalized BCV 1000 and vine, an all-zero serial number, and a watermark of Code de Dona with an electrotype vine and Cornerstones. It is 136 mm x 66 mm and is signed by Bank Governor Carlos Augusto de Burgo and Administrator Manuel Pinto Frederico. This specimen banknote is in uncirculated condition and has been TAP authenticated with a grade of 60-70.
