The Cape Verde 2,000 Escudos specimen banknote was issued by the Bank of Cape Verde in 1999. The blue banknote is in a vertical orientation and bears Portuguese text. Its obverse features poet Eugenio Tavares and a holographic open book with a pen. The reverse depicts a cardeal cardinal flower and lines from Tavares’ poem “Morna aguada”. It has a 4-mm windowed security thread with demetallized BCV 2000 and the nib of a pen. It also has a registration device in the form of a fountain. Its watermark reveals Eugenio Tavares with an electrotype 2000. It is 142 x 71 mm in size and is signed by Oswaldo Miguel Sequeira and Vasco Marta. This specimen banknote is in uncirculated condition and has been TAP authenticated with a grade of 60 to 70.
