The Cape Verde 5,000 Escudos specimen banknote was issued by the Bank of Cape Verde in 2000. The red banknote is in a vertical orientation. Its obverse features a woman carrying large stones on her head. The reverse depicts a cannon and the main gate of Fortaleza Real - Cidade Velha (Royal Fortress - Old City) in Ribeira Grande on Santiago. The note contains a holographic patch, a solid security thread, and a 4-mm windowed security thread with a demetallized BCV 5000. Its watermark reveals a woman and an electrotype 5000. The note is 148 x 74 mm in size and is signed by Vasco Marta and Olavo Avelino Garcia Correia. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition.
