The Cape Verde 5,000 Escudos Banknote was issued by the Bank of Cape Verde in 1975. The note has a combination of purple, light blue, orange, and yellow. Its obverse depicts Aristides Maria Pereira who was the country’s first president. It also displays islands superimposed on a house exterior, stylized waves, and an embossed map of Africa. The reverse features a stylized wave, the map of Boa Vista, a landscape of Boa Vista (the home of Aristides Maria Pereira), including a fireplace of a pottery factory. The note contains a holographic stripe with Aristides Maria Pereira, BCV, and a map of Boa Vista. It also has a red-to-green windowed security thread with demetallized BCV 5000 and a torch. Its watermark reflects Aristides Maria Pereira and an electrotype torch with Cornerstones. It is 148 x 74 mm in size. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition.
