The Cape Verde 5,000 Escudos Banknote was issued by the Bank of Cape Verde in 2014. It has a color combination of purple, light blue, orange, and yellow and bears a diagonal red SPECIMEN overprint on both sides. Its obverse side shows islands superimposed on a house exterior, stylized waves, an embossed map of Africa, and a portrait of Aristides Maria Pereira, the first president of Cape Verde. Its reverse side shows the map of Boa Vista and the home of Aristides Maria Pereira. Security features include a red-to-green windowed security thread with a demetalized BCV 5000 and torch, a map of Africa registration device, an all-zero serial number, and a watermark of Aristides Maria Pereira with an electrotype torch and Cornerstones. It is 148 mm x 74 mm in size and is signed by Bank Governor Carlos Augusto de Burgo and Administrator Manuel Pinto Frederico. This specimen banknote is in uncirculated condition and has been TAP authenticated.
