This uncirculated 500 Cape Verdean escudo banknote is a specimen banknote issued by the Bank of Cape Verde. It is a blue banknote that is dated 20 January 1977, bears the signatures of Finance Minister Amaro Alexandre da Luz and Corentino Virgilio Santos, and measures 144 mm x 71 mm. Its obverse side contains Portuguese text, a shark, the national coat of arms, a pano cloth pattern, a diagonal red ESPECIME overprint, a horizontal red SPECIMEN number overprint, and a portrait of Amilcar Cabral. Its reverse side depicts the Porto Grande (Great Port) in Mindelo on Sao Vicente and a diagonal red ESPECIME overprint. Security features include a solid security thread, an all-zero serial number, and a watermark of Amilcar Cabral. The note was withdrawn in 1989.
