This uncirculated 500 Cape Verdean escudo banknote is a standard circulation banknote issued by Banco de Cabo Verde. It is a green, yellow, and red banknote that is dated 25 February 2007 (170th birthday of Roberto Duarte Silva), bears the signatures of Manuel Pinto Frederico and Carlos Augusto de Burgo, and measures 130 mm long and 65 mm wide. Both sides of the note are vertically oriented and use Portuguese text. Its obverse side features the chemist Roberto Duarte Silva, chemical symbols, a serpent wrapped around a chalice, and the national coat of arms. Its reverse side depicts a view of the Trapiches- Ilha de Santo Antao, the sugar cane press island of Santo Antao. Security features include a mortal and pestle registration device, a solid security thread, a 4-mm wide windowed security thread with a demetallized BCV 500, and a watermark of Roberto Duarte Silva with an electrotype 500.
