This uncirculated 500 Cape Verdean escudo banknote is a specimen banknote issued by the Bank of Cape Verde on the 170th birthday of Roberto Duarte Silva. It is a green, yellow, and red banknote that is dated 25 February 2007, bear the signatures of Bank Administrator Manuel Pinto Frederico and Governor Carlos Augusto de Burgo, and measures 130 mm x 65 mm. Both sides of the banknote are vertically oriented. Its obverse side honors the chemist Roberto Duarte Silva. It also shows chemical symbols, a serpent wrapped around a chalice, and a diagonal red ESPECIME overprint. Its reverse side shows the Trapiches- Ilha de Santo Antao (sugar can press island of Santo Antao) and a diagonal red ESPECIME overprint. Security features include a mortar and pestle registration device, a solid security thread, a 4-mm windowed security thread with a demetalized BCV 500, an all-zero serial number, and a watermark of Roberto Duarte Silva with an electrotype 500.
