This uncirculated 500 Cape Verdean escudo banknote is a specimen banknote issued by the Bank of Cape Verde. It is a green, orange, red, and purple banknote that is dated 5 June 2014, bear the signatures of Bank Administrator Manuel Pinto Frederico and Governor Carlos Augusto de Burgo, and measures 131 mm x 65 mm. Its obverse side contains a holographic open book, an embossed open book, a diagonal red SPECIMEN overprint, a horizontal red # overprint, and a portrait of Jorge Barbosa. Its reverse side contains lines from Barbosa’s “Casebre” (Struggle), a view of the Pollao Dam in Santa Cruz, a line drawing of women with baskets, and a diagonal red SPECIMEN overprint. Other security features include an all-zero serial number, a solid security thread with a demetalized BCV 500, and a watermark of Jorge Barbosa with an electrotype typewriter and Cornerstones.
