The Colombia 10,000 Pesos Banknote was issued by the Bank of the Republic in 1993 to commemorate the quincentennial of Christopher Columbus’ voyage. It has a color combination of green, brown, red, and yellow. Its obverse features Mujer Embera (Embera Indian woman), two sailing ships, a plant, a plate, and a gold figure. It also bears the text SERIE CONMEMORATIVA DEL 12 OCTUBRE DE 1942. Its reverse side shows Martin Waldseemuller’s world map of 1507, a cornucopia bank seal, Cristobal Colon’s Santa Maria sailing ship, a greater flamingo, an Andean condor, a green honeycreeper, an Andean cock of the rock, blue and yellow macaws, a hoatzin, a scarlet ibis, a yellow-hooded blackbird, a metallic green tanager, a white pelican, a magnificent frigatebird, a keel-billed toucan, a Baltimore oriole, a scarlet macaw, a yellow-crowned parrot, and a red-capped cardinal. Security features include a solid security thread, a solid security thread with printed BRC 10000, and a watermark of an Embera woman. It is 140 x 70 mm in size and is signed by Miguel Urrutia Montoya and Fernando Copete Saldarriaga. This commemorative banknote is in uncirculated condition and has been TAP authenticated with a grade of 60 to 70.
