Centered on the banknotes obverse is Literature Nobel prize winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez standing with butterflies and on the right is his portrait. The note also depicts a hummingbird and a flower in green-to-blue SPARK Orbit and the denomination in dark blue-to-light blue Optically Variable Ink. The reverse of the banknote displays two standing natives, Ciudad Perdida, and the heart of the Tayrona civilization in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Maria. The Liberty head seal of the Bank of the Republic is also shown. The 148 x 66 mm paper bill comes with a solid security thread with a demetalized BRC. The banknote also bears a watermark that reflects Gabriel Garcia Marquez and an electrotype 50. Furthermore, it is designed with registration devices in the form of a nautilus shell and BRC. This particular Colombia 50,000 has been given a grade of 67 by the Paper Money Guaranty.
