This note is a specimen of a 1,000 Congolese franc note from 2005-2013. The 1,000 Congolese franc note is dated 30 June 2013 and signed by Banque Nationale du Congo Governor Deogratias Mutombo Mwana Nyembo. It is a green note that measures 140 mm x 72 mm. Its obverse side shows two standing okapi, a Kanioka carved box, and a diagonal red SPECIMEN overprint. Its reverse side shows an African gray parrot, a corn field, and a diagonal red SPECIMEN overprint. Security features include a map and RDC registration device, a windowed security thread with demetalized RD Congo, and an Okapi head watermark with electrotype 1000. It is also a gem uncirculated note that qualified for Paper Money Guaranty’s Exceptional Paper Quality, experienced minor handling, and has above-average centering. Thus, it is graded 66 by the Paper Money Guaranty (PMG).
