The Costa Rica 1,000 Colones Banknote was released by the Central Bank of Costa Rica in 2009. The red banknote features Braulio Carrillo Colina who was the Head of State of Costa Rica. It also shows the original ESTADO DE COSTA RICA shield and a map of Costa Rica on a see-through leaf. The reverse displays a dry forest landscape in Guanacaste and pitahaya cactus flowers. Also on the reverse are scorpions and a white-tailed deer with a tree in the background. It contains a simulated security thread and a watermark that reveals leaves. It is 125 x 67 mm in size and is signed by Francisco de Paula Gutierrez Roy Gonzalez Rojas. This particular banknote is printed on polymer and is in uncirculated condition.
