The Costa Rica 5,000 Colones Banknote was issued by the Central Bank of Costa Rica in 2009. It has a combination of yellow and tan and bears a diagonal red MUESTRA SIN VALOR overprint on both the front and back. Its obverse features the former president Alfredo Gonzalez Flores, the Banco Internacional building, and the map of Costa Rica in optically variable ink. Its reverse side depicts a mangrove swamp, flowers, caimans, a crab, and a monkey. The banknote contains a watermark that reveals Alfredo Gonzalez Flores. It also has a windowed security thread. It is 139 mm by 67 mm in size. This particular specimen banknote is in uncirculated condition and has been TAP authenticated.
