This 5 Costa Rican colon note is a standard circulation banknote issued by the Central Bank of Costa Rica as part of the 1983 D series. It is an olive green, purple, orange, red, brown, and blue note that is dated 07 April 1983, bear the signatures of Carlos Manuel Castillo Morales and Olivier Castro Perez, and measures 156 mm x 67 mm. Its obverse side features President Rafael Anselmo Jose Yglesias Castro and the Guarianthe skinneri orchids, the national flower of Costa Rica. Its reverse side shows stocks being laden on ships at dock from Aleardo Villa’s 1987 painting at the National Theater. The note does not have a security thread or a watermark. However, it has a D-prefix serial number.
