This 5 Costa Rican colon banknote is part of the series of banknotes issued by the Central Bank of Costa Rica from 1968 to 1992. It bears the date 30 de Junio de 1970 (30th of June, 1970) and the signatures of Juan R. Arias Trejos, the President of the Board of Directors, and Ornar Dengo Obregon, the Manager of the Bank. Its front side contains Spanish text, a portrait of the 16th Costa Rican president Rafael Anselmo Jose Yglesias Castro, and a picture of two Guairanthe skinneri orchids, the national flower of Costa Rica. Its reverse side depicts The Allegory of Coffee and Bananas, the mural by Aleardo Villa found in the National Theater building. Though the note does not have a security thread nor a watermark, its dimensions are 156 mm by 67 mm. This note is in uncirculated condition and its contents have been verified by Banknote World experts.
