The Cyprus 50 Cents Coin was issued by the Republic of Cyprus between 1991 and 2004, highlighting the Abduction of Europa. Featured on one side of the coin is the nation’s coat of arms depicting a shield with a dove holding an olive twig, the year of independence- 1960, and laurel twigs around the shield. The reverse of the coin displays a 4th century BC Cypriot Kingdom of Marion coin illustrating the abduction of Europa by Zeus who transformed into a bull. An inscription “King Timocharis” is also shown in Cypriot text. This copper-nickel coin weighs 7 g and has a diameter of 26 mm. It is in mint condition.
