Featured on its obverse are Dominican poet Salome Urena de Henriquez and writer Pedro Henriquez Urena. It also shows the bank seal and Bayahibe flowers that are endemic to the country, and the denomination in gold Optically Variable Ink. The reverse of the note depicts the headquarters building of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic in Santo Domingo. The 158 x 67 mm note bears a windowed security thread with a demetalized 500. It also has a watermark that consists of an image of Juan Pablo Duarte and a vertical electrotype 500 with a pixelated background.
